ABOUT

In case you're wondering, my last name is pronounced “D-Joya”.  It’s Italian. My parents immigrated to the U.S. in the early 1950’s.

I received my BFA from the S.U.N.Y. Purchase Acting Conservatory and have been a professional actor since the mid 1980's. I've appeared Off-Broadway, Off-Off-Bway, in regional/stock theaters, nightclubs, dinner-theaters, cruise-ships, tours, and in independent-films (some of which were selections at the SUNDANCE and CANNES Film Fests).  On stage, I’ve been fortunate to play some of my dream roles, and have picked up a few acting awards and nominations along the way.  Selections of my CD “Another Look” were heard on WBAI-NY and WMNR Fine Arts Radio-CT/NY.  For detailed career credits, please visit the Resume(s) and Bio page.

Soon after college, I  landed a position with the Mirror Repertory Co., Off-Bway, NYC, giving me the opportunity to work with some very fine directors and actors, including the legendary Geraldine Page  - a truly incomparable experience.

Additionally, I’m very proud of the young-actors I’ve coached over the years, some of whom have gone on to do remarkable things.

I’ve been blessed to be surrounded by supportive family, friends, and my spouse of 25+ years.   I enjoy kayaking, paddle-boarding, hiking, biking, drawing, painting and feel most at home surrounded by nature and our pets.  Uh-oh, this sounds like a dating-app profile.  Speaking of which, you won't find me on any social media platforms, with the exception of my performance reels on YouTube.

Finally, as the old song says, “Enjoy Yourself, It’s Later Than You Think!
